Information on the Festival |
| At the summit of Mt. Taebaek, 1,567 meters above sea
level, royal azaleas and yew trees create a grandiose
sight in spring. This blossoming, starting from Mt. Jiri,
reaches its peak here on Mt. Taebaek in June, coloring
Cheonjedan (the summit), Janggunbong (peak) and Musobong
(peak) in glorious shades of pink. The Azalea Festival
is held at this beautiful time of year, together with
the Fossil Festival, which features Gumunso (Natural Monument
≫417) preserving the secret of the birth of the Korean
peninsula. As a result, tourists throughout Korea flock
to this area. |
