Temple Valley
- ADDRESS Samsung, Taebaek-si
- HOLIDAY All-Year-round
- USE TIME All-Year-round
This 16km-long-valley, located to the east of Mt Hambaeksan, is called Jeolgol due to the many temples that have been located here over the centuries.
Among these were Bonjeok Temple, Simjeoksa and Myojeoksa and Unjeoksa, where the monks Jajang Yulsa and Wonhyo practiced asceticism during the Silla kingdom.
They were all subsequently destroyed; the Three-Story Stone Pagoda (Provincial Cultural Material ¢à126) on the site of Bonjeoksa is all that remains today.
Entering the valley a further 2km, the visitor comes to a camp site and a forest recreation park. This is operated as a village-managed recreation park.
